Breaking It Down: Adidas Gazelle, Spezial, and Samba Differences
Adidas has been having their moment in the sneaker world, with countless styles and endless ways to wear them. But what sets each style apart? I currently own two of these iconic pairs and have tried them all on, so let’s break it down together to help you find the perfect fit for you.
Adidas Gazelle
The Gazelles are my personal favorite—well, sort of. Let me explain. They come in two styles: the platform version (Adidas Gazelle Bold) and the non-platform version (Adidas Gazelle Indoor). Both are undeniably adorable, but as someone with size 9.5 feet, I find that the non-platform style tends to make my feet look longer. Because of this, I usually stick with the platform version. I currently own the red and grey pairs and have my eye on the blue ones next. For sizing, I recommend going down half a size—I typically wear a 9 in all Adidas sneakers.
What I love most about the Gazelles is how versatile they are. You can easily dress them down with leggings or sweats for a casual look, but they can also be dressed up with jeans and a blazer for a more elevated style. It’s the perfect balance of comfort and fashion!

Since we’re talking about my favorites—and least favorites—let’s dive into the Sambas. I mentioned earlier that the non-platform style of the Gazelles makes my feet look super long, and the same goes for the Sambas. This is a style I’ve tried on multiple times, hoping to like them, but I just can’t bring myself to buy a pair. I see people wearing them everywhere and they look so cute, but I think they might have smaller feet than me HA. I really believe this is a pair you have to try on for yourself to see how they look on your feet. You definitely can’t go wrong with the classic black color though—it’s timeless!

This is the newest addition to my Adidas collection, and I am absolutely obsessed. They’re more of a mid-platform sneaker, leaning a bit toward the non-platform side, but they look great on any shoe size. I’ve been reaching for these a lot lately when I’m going for a more effortless, model-off-duty vibe. If you’re between sizes, I’d recommend sizing down—that’s what works best for me. I have the brown pair but am definitely eyeing the tan and burgundy ones next. I think they’ll be perfect for every season, not just fall!
